WELCOME A very warm welcome to the Arts Society Oundle Who we are – we are a friendly society of about 260 members who share a keen interest in all the different types of Art whether it is painting, sculpture, architecture, music, ceramics – very old or more modern – a whole range. We are also interested in promoting the arts in our community and raising awareness of our wonderful heritage. What we do – we have a series of 10 lectures a year given by extremely good lecturers who are vetted by Central Office on topics chosen by us. We also have two study days a year on a particular topic which consist of three hour- long talks including lunch and tea and coffee. In addition we have at least two trips a year. Both trips and study days are very popular. We are also able to offer zoom lectures for the months from November to March as the weather can be very unpredictable then. Members find this a great asset. We also sponsor various cultural activities in our area and try and support volunteering through various projects linked to our town, villages and churches. Members are able to pursue any specific interests they have. Where we meet – We meet at Barnwell Village Hall on the third Friday of the month from September to June. Members like to come early from 10am for their 11am lecture when we serve tea, coffee and biscuits and give people time to chat and socialise. The lectures last an hour and there is ample parking at the venue. All our study days also take place at Barnwell. What it costs – we are very pleased to say that our subs are very low (£45 for the year) so we offer good value for the quality of our lectures. Members can bring you as a guest which will cost £10 – or just send a message to our membership secretary to say you would like to come and try a session. You also get a copy of the national magazine published three times a year which includes articles on Arts subjects, news of national activities and information about holidays specifically for members. Why not come along and try us out – you would be very very welcome and really enjoy yourself! Lidia Douglas (Chair)
